| Comments: | 21 years ago today began one of the happiest and most memorable weeks of my life. Not a year goes by that – no matter how life is treating me – I don’t anticipate this week and relive the memories in my mind. Every day was better than the one before it on that cruise. Ashley, David, Alex, Jose, Nicole, Anthony, Brian, and Jerry. Most days I can’t find my keys yet I remember the names, what we did every day, the dumb pranks and activities (so glad Jerry and Alex didn’t REALLY throw my shoes overboard, and that we didn’t get in trouble for screaming and trying to long jump over groups of us laying side by side on the basketball court…at 1am below the balcony cabins), the fun in the pool, and all the jokes. Looking back, it was really Jerry who led our group, held it together, and made us laugh. I’m so glad I got to know him even it was for one week of our lives. | Comments: | Posting here is always a little painful. But it means that Jerry is remembered, missed, and celebrated still. He brought our little group together with his personality and humor, and that kicked off one of the best weeks of my life. Jerry also helped me realize the magic of summer nights, which we should still get to enjoy for a few more weeks. From one of Jerry’s letters: "Have you ever listened to the woods at night? I mean really listened? Just sit back, close your eyes, and listen. It is a truly moving experience that will change you forever. The noises of the woods, cicadas, crickets, bats, and owls combine to form an incredibly soothing symphony that is comparable to no other." Jerry, another year has passed, but that means another year closer to saying “Hey“ again and hearing all your wisecracks that made me laugh so much. Missing you still, but thankful for the memories. | Comments: | Six years and yet I still think up responses to conversations as if we had them yesterday. Every year at this time I remember hearing the sirens, not knowing that they would herald something that has shaken me to my core.
Time has numbed most of the sadness, the questions and anger i've felt, but not the sense of loss. Distance has made it seem almost surreal, I dont have to drive past the church, the corner; I don't have to think about the scouts or projects left undone. Now I don't even have to go back to NJ if I don't want to, and yet I cant escape it.
It's not the same Jerry and it hasn't been for six years. If I didn't have Brian, Dennis, and Brad I don't know how I would have gotten through. Even now just having BC around keeps me sane at times I feel like losing it. | Comments: | Today, July 27th, 2004, Jerry's pet Bearded Dragon died. She had been sick since the middle of May requiring syringe feeding two to three times a day plus medications. Today she appeared to be improving, however, after lunch she took a turn for the worse and stopped breathing.. The vet confirmed there was a faint heartbeat. She was being ventilated manually.
I used to tease Jerry that when he went away to college Spiny would be my dragon. Jerry would say , "Mom, I'm taking her with me to college". "What if you get into one of the Academies, Jerry?" " I will figure something out, Mom". Today, Jerry figured something out. Spiny went with him.
A curious note. Spiny was adopted from the Christian Brothers Academy biology lab September 20, 1999. Jerry died exactly 3 years later, September 20, 2002.

| Comments: | To those who knew Jerry and are now out of the area and may not be aware: On September 5th, 2003, the blinker light became operational at the intersection where Jerry's & Brian's accident occurred, Muhlenbrink Rd. & Phalanx Rd.. The light was a recommendation made by the county following an investigation into the safety of Phalnax Rd. and it's intersections following several accidents on that road. Before a decision was made by the township, 2 more people were killed on June 3rd, 2003, at the same intersection. Additional modifications have been made at that intersection including the cutting of trees and vegetation to improve visibility. |

| Comments: | On May 21st,2003, a 32 foot climbing tower was installed at Forestburg Scout Reservation near Port Jervis, New York. This is a result of the many contributions to Monmouth Council Boy Scouts in Jerry's name. The dedication took place on July 26th with many members of Jerry's troop, scouters, friends and family in attendance. Pictures of the tower and plaque will be posted. |

I stopped by Monday, and remembered the lyrics to "Ghost of Freedom" and "Watching over Me" by our favorite band, Iced Earth. They are perfectly fitting: you may be gone, but you are still beside us, "watching me, guiding me through hard times." You've been my greatest inspiration and who I dedicate my work to, and it has paid off: my grades have actually gotten respectable and at times excellent, and I've been accepted into St. Joseph's! Somehow, my article about you (which, as with everything, I feel I could have improved) made the front page of the Academy Torch, too.
